China’s vast industrial espionage operations have included the hiring of unwitting university students to spy on western targets and translate hacked documents, according to a Financial Times investigation.

Beijing spymasters recruited English-language graduates on behalf of APT40, which snoops on US, Canadian, European, Israeli and Arab agencies, companies and universities, the investigation found.
