China-based employees of TikTok parent ByteDance had access to the private data of TikTok’s US users, according to leaked audio recordings of 80 internal meetings, BuzzFeed  reported.

While video platform TikTok has insisted that access to its user data is controlled by a security team in the US, the recordings revealed a person from TikTok’s Trust and Safety department as saying, “Everything is seen in China,’’ BuzzFeed reported.  The recordings revealed fourteen statements from nine TikTok employees that said China-based engineers had accessed the data of US users, at least between last September and January this year, BuzzFeed reported.
