The mood among workers at the Tesla plant in Grunheide, near Berlin in Germany, has shifted because of unequal wages and dissatisfaction is spreading, according to a report by Der Spiegel, which cited a union official, who said new hires were getting better pay than older employees because it was harder to find skilled workers.
“We are hearing more and more often about people leaving Tesla and going back to their old employers,” Birgit Dietze, a representative of the IG Metall union in the region, was quoted as saying, while adding that emails from Tesla chief Elon Musk railing against people working from home and his abrupt announcement of job cuts had not helped the atmosphere among workers.
