Indian Railways Flags Off 100th Textile Train

Five months after flagging off its first special freight train for textiles, India’s Western Railway on Wednesday loaded the 100th textile train from Chalthan, near Surat in Gujarat, to Sankrail, near Howrah in West Bengal, The Statesman in Kolkata reported.

The Railways Ministry stated that “it reflects growing confidence of the Surat textile sector in the railways”. The textile trains have raised more than 102 million rupees ($1.3 million) in revenue.
