Japan’s Space Agency Tests New Scramjet – NHK

 

Japan’s space agency on Sunday tested a supersonic scramjet engine that runs without oxygen and can carry heavier payloads, public broadcaster NHK reported.

Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA, launched the S-520-RD rocket at 5am Tokyo time from southwestern Japan. The launch is a part of a defence ministry project.
