China Leads the US on Scientific Research Papers – Guardian

Chinese scientific research accounts for almost a quarter of the world’s output, the report said, and leads the way for world’s most cited studies.

China is leading the world for quantity and quality of scientific research, overtaking the United States, according to a report by Japan’s science and technology ministry, a report by The Guardian says.

Chinese scientific research accounts for almost a quarter of the world’s output, the report said, pulling ahead of the US at 17%. It also publishes 27% of the world’s most frequently cited studies, followed by the US at nearly 25%, and the UK at 5.5%, the report said.
